This new collection by rising young painter Max Leuchars includes a series of dramatic seascapes inspired by the North Cornwall coast, alongside rural landscapes and city scenes from his European travels. These paintings, several of which are presented on a very large scale, demonstrate his talent for oil work and richly emphatic palette-knife texture, and the subtle adjustments of colour he uses to capture the atmosphere and topography of each place. Max Leuchars attended Bryanston School, whose alumni include Lucian Freud, Sir Howard Hodgkin and Sir Terence Conran.
