Our current online exhibition showcases the work of Devon based artist Alison Summerfield.
Alison studied English and Art History at University, and is a longstanding Trustee and Honorary Member of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. As a landscape and still life painter, she works in oils in the 'alla prima' method, a spontaneous wet-on-wet technique that allows for an intuitive, high-energy way of working, and in addition she often uses charcoal and inks in her work. Her practice is based on the physical and instinctive process of working with oil paint, using both palette knife and brush, combining rich colour with the vibrancy of gestural marks.
